The northern Perth suburb of Butler, Western Australia is now open to a brand-new bespoke office building designed and built for the Western Australian Government.

The new development, located at 225 Butler Boulevard, Butler was completed in late May 2023, with the 1,100 sqm building housing the Department of Transport on a long-term 15-year lease.

This long-term agreement continues an already strong relationship Castlerock has cemented with the WA State Government. Castlerock has now delivered a total of three buildings in partnership with the WA Government across the state.

Throughout the development and planning stage, a key aspect was to create an environment where employees ‘want’ to be coming into the office each and every day, therefore along with an abundance of natural daylight, the inclusion of end-of-trip facilities to encourage and allow for flexibility have been accounted for.

This includes bicycle and scooter parking facilities, showers, and change rooms among more. The new purpose-built development is designed and constructed to achieve a 5-star NABERS rating with its highly efficient services throughout and a 40kW solar array on the roof.

Partnering with local communities is a core mission at Castlerock, so we were thrilled to commission a local artist to create a bespoke piece that is displayed on the interior and exterior of the building.

Seantelle Walsh is a local Noongar artist who is well known in Perth for her artwork, and displays a strong connection to her family ancestry connections with the Wilman Tribe from Gnaala Kala Boodja region.

The piece symbolises the ongoing connection of salt water and freshwater country of the Mooro people, and gives an essence of peace, empowerment, and vitality.

The brand-new asset in Butler is now part of the Castlerock Government Property Fund, alongside eleven other existing assets.
