Sustainability Initiatives Across the Portfolio
EV Charging Infrastructure
As electric vehicle adoption continues to grow across Australia, EV charging infrastructure is being progressively introduced across selected assets within the portfolio. Charging facilities are now operational at Ipswich, Mackay and Townsville, collectively providing 140 EV charging bays, with a feasibility study currently underway for EV installation at Wollongong.
These projects are designed to support our tenants' low carbon transport plans while enhancing the amenity and long-term goal of our properties.
Solar Expansion Projects
The portfolio continues to identify and pursue opportunities to expand renewable energy generation through strategic solar installations across selected assets.
We recently completed the installation of a 99kW rooftop solar system at Mackay, adding to the portfolio's growing renewable energy capacity. At Mirrabooka, a feasibility study is currently underway to expand the existing 40kW rooftop solar system by an additional 60kW, bringing the site's total capacity to 100kW. This expansion will further support the building's long-term sustainability outcomes and reduce reliance on grid-sourced electricity.
Sustainable Development Focus
Castlerock's Townsville development at 158 Walker Street has been designed with sustainability embedded from the outset, reflecting our commitment to delivering high-performance, low-carbon assets that meet our tenants and investors expectations.
Upon completion, the development is targeting the following sustainability credentials:
- 6 Star NABERS Energy (Base Building)
- 5 Star NABERS Water
- 4 Star Green Star
- Climate Active Carbon Neutral certification
- 179 kW rooftop solar, comprising base building and tenancy consumption
These initiatives reflect the increasing importance of sustainability considerations across both development and asset management strategies.
Long-Term Portfolio Thinking
At Castlerock, ESG is ultimately about long-term thinking.
We believe resilient assets, strong tenant covenants, sustainable operational practices, and responsible governance all contribute to building a portfolio designed to perform over time.
As investor expectations and industry standards continue to evolve, ESG considerations remain an important part of how we approach property investment and portfolio management across Australia.
