Castlerock Named Finalist in Reputable Property Council of Australia Awards
Castlerock has the opportunity to add another highly sought-after award to the success that has been the Latrobe Valley GovHub located in the Victorian town of Morwell. The Property Council of Australia has nominated the innovative development for the best office development award and the best workplace project award.
The Innovation & Excellence Awards, which this year celebrates their 40th birthday, is one of the most prestigious property award programs in Australia for showcasing iconic projects in property development and investment across a range of sectors and design disciplines.
Managing Director, Adam Bronts commented on the nomination saying: “We are thrilled to once again be standing alongside some really impressive developments nominated for this award, and it goes to show the impact the Latrobe Valley GovHub has had not only for the local Morwell community but also for the entire industry.”
The award category for best office development recognises the efficient use of capital in a new or refurbished office development. The Latrobe Valley GovHub will be competing with 13 fellow office developments for this respected award, including Zurich Tower and Macquarie Park Corporate Centre.
The best workplace award recognises developments that are new or refreshed workplace projects, with a minimum net lettable area of 2,000 square metres. Castlerock’s development in Morwell will be up against 10 other developments for this award.
The Latrobe Valley GovHub has become well known for its of the box thinking in promoting its incredible features and strong focus on community engagement throughout the entirety of the development. The Castlerock team is very committed to using local contractors and products wherever possible and the GovHub was no exception, proudly utilising 82% of local content throughout the whole project.
The purpose-built office development houses up to 300 Government employees that span across Earth Resources Regulation, Parks Victoria, Solar Victoria staff and a café that is open to the public.
CBD quality end-of-trip facilities, EV charging points and a 99kW solar array on the roof which will help achieving a NABERS 5.5-star energy rating are only some of the features the GovHub provides.
In addition to these features, Castlerock were dedicated on creating community partnerships throughout the project with indigenous organisations. The Torch Program, being one of them, focuses on providing art and culture while supporting indigenous offenders in the Victorian prison system. Castlerock also partnered with the traditional owners of Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) who provided five incredible canvas paintings by local Koorie artists.
The awards are spread across 17 categories with a jury of 15 judges with extensive knowledge in the industry to make the final decision with the winner to be announced on Friday September 2.
