Frankston: Solar Performance in Action

Frankston continues to demonstrate how thoughtful design translates into measurable operational performance. Since commissioning, the building’s rooftop solar system has generated over 160 MWh of renewable energy, reinforcing Castlerock’s long-term, responsible approach to asset management beyond the CBD.

Sustainability at Castlerock extends well beyond practical completion, it is reflected in how our assets perform over time.

Since commissioning in September 2024, the solar installation at our Frankston development has generated 160.87 MWh of renewable energy, reducing 162.17 tonnes of CO₂ emissions and displacing 65.72 tonnes of coal, the equivalent environmental impact of planting 8,855 trees.

More importantly, that performance is ongoing.

So far, this financial year, nearly one-third of the base building’s energy requirements have been supplied by on-site solar generation. This means the asset is actively reducing reliance on external energy sources while strengthening operational efficiency.

The building is also contributing beyond its own footprint. Since commencing exports to the grid in March 2025, 17 MWh of surplus clean energy has been returned to the network in just over ten months, enough to power a smaller regional government facility for several months.

On an annualised basis, the system is estimated to generate approximately 108,530 kWh and reduce emissions by around 108.19 tonnes of CO₂ per year. In total, the installation offsets between 25-30% of base building energy use and up to 16% of whole-building consumption, depending on whether exported energy is included.

Over a twelve-month period, this equates to approximately 43.9 tonnes of coal displacement, or the equivalent of planting 5,915 trees.

For Castlerock, sustainable performance is part of responsible stewardship. Through proactive management and continual optimisation, we ensure our assets continue to deliver value for both the communities they serve and the investors who back them, today and over the long term.
